UGT Renewables and Hyundai Engineering Co. have announced a transformative partnership with the Serbian government to develop one of Europe’s largest solar PV and energy storage projects. Set to include 1.2 gigawatts of solar power and 200 megawatts of battery capacity, this project reflects a landmark step in Serbia’s pursuit of the green transition. Both companies are committed to leveraging their expertise to bring advanced solar and storage technology to Serbia, aiming to contribute significantly to the country’s energy resilience and regional sustainability goals.
UGT Renewables’ representative emphasised the global scope of their operations, spanning four continents, and highlighted the importance of expanding their footprint in the Balkans. Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering’s senior manager underscored their commitment to Serbia’s energy aspirations, noting the company’s extensive experience in eco-friendly engineering and infrastructure projects worldwide. Together, the consortium is committed to using high-quality technology and strategic planning to make Serbia a renewable energy leader.
With this partnership, UGTR and HEC aim to create a sustainable model that Serbia and neighbouring countries can follow. Their plans align with the broader goals of Energy Week Western Balkans, an event focused on catalysing renewable energy adoption and promoting collaborations across the region.
